Narrow Road "Living In Faith"

This is a refreshing Christian Country CD the way it should sound with strong harmonies and a "handle with care approach to the classics", such as, "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" and "The Old Rugged Cross".   You'll not only want this CD in your collection but you will want to see them in person.  "Living in Faith", "Don't Look Back" and "Show Me the Way" are definately radio friendly!

Narrow Road "Living In Faith"

Narrow Road is an Ontario-based Country/Gospel trio featuring the talents of brothers Mark & Gord Stevenson and cousin Darren Leck.  Living in Faith, their sophomore album release, has already earned accolades as the Canadian Gospel Music Association's "Album Of The Year" with the opening tune Sometimes It's Hard To See named Country Gospel Song Of The Year and Narrow Road itself walking away with Favourite Band Of The Year honours....all of which can be justified by just one quick listen to this album.  Powerful stuff to say the least!!

Narrow Road's strong vocal work here is supplemented by the session talents of front-line musicians Steve Piticco (guitars), Don Reed (fiddle), Burke Carroll (steel / dobro), John Dymond (bass), Keyboards by Steve O'Connor and Ken Munshaw; and Darren Schott's mandolin licks...it's a collection of talents that makes this one of the most 'listenable' albums currently on the Canadian music market.

Country Gospel music is not given much airplay on today's commercial radio - a situation that would change instantly if this Narrow Road album was used as a sample of what the genre has to offer.  Narrow Road's music leans heavily to the 'country' side of Country Gospel, and there are several songs here that would easily attract the attention of country ears.  The award-winning Sometimes It's Hard To See (The Forest For The Trees) is a natural; but so too are tunes like Don't Look Back, Leaning On You and the title track, Living In Faith, all of which are original tunes penned by the Stevenson clan.  Also interesting is a solid cover of the Paul Overstreet / Don Schlitz composition 'Neath The Light Of Your Love' lifted from Overstreet's 1989 Sowin' Love album.

Living In Faith was produced by Burke Carroll and recorded by Darren Walters at the Walter's Family Studio in Bright, Ontario.  The contributions here by Steve Piticco and Don Reed (known best for their roles in the country group South Mountain) are particularly noticeable, and are key to overall strength of this fine album.
